The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW)
announced national strike action on Friday, November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET. This may affect orders currently in transit and any new orders placed using Canada Post.
Orders are typically processed within 12 to 24 hours (business days) and may be shipped by either Canada Post, Canada Post / USPS or UPS depending on end destination. Delivery times vary by region and time of year (Holidays are especially busy). If your order is urgent, please contact us directly and we can look into express shipping.
Yes! We offer free shipping on orders over $60 USD and $80 CAD in value, for shipments within Canada and the USA. We do not currently offer free international shipping outside of these regions, but do have preferred rates with UPS that you may choose.
Need something in a country outside our shipping region? Send us a message and we can connect you with one of our distributors or can potentially arrange a custom shipment for you.
By offering refills we have saved thousands of bottles from being discarded. There are currently two ways to refill your liquid chalk. The first way is to bring it into one of our retail locations which offer over-the-counter filling of bottles. It’s typically around $6 CAD / $5 USD for a refill. You can also refill your 50ml Personal Bottle at home using our Refill Pack, which can replenish a bottle 6 times while greatly reducing waste.
Rosin is the generic term for the hardened sticky sap that comes off of pine trees, which is pulverized and added to many other brands of liquid chalks. When this rosin accumulates and hardens, it forms an amber which can contribute to polishing. This is the case in regions such as Fontainebleau in France, where "Poff" (another name for rosin) has been used extensively.
Because of the potential for long-term, permanent damage to our climbs we feel that rosin has absolutely no place as an ingredient in chalks - liquid or dry.
How can you tell if your chalk has rosin? Look for the following ingredients. You can also sometimes tell if a chalk has rosin if your hands retain a sticky feeling after washing.
We get this a lot! Liquid chalk doesn’t need to smell terrible - we add a small amount of citrus scent to cut down the harsh smell of alcohol. It does not affect grip, so you can crush your problem and smell darn good doing it!
We want to ensure you are satisfied with your Midnight Lightning products. If you have any issues, feel free to contact us so that we make it right for you!
Chalktopus love a good bath every now and then! After awhile, their chalk grabbing tentacles can get dense with chalk. Hand washing with warm water and mild detergent in the in the sink can help bring your chalky friend back to it's original fluffy self. For drying, we recommend hanging in airy spot. Do not machine wash or dry, as this can damage them.
Are you an active contributor your local climbing community? Have a strong social presence? Are climbing at a high level? A mentor that others look up to? Care about our environment? We strive to work with individuals who have a positive impact on our sport and reflect our own core values - That’s why we require prospective ambassadors to tick at least a few of these boxes. You can reach out to us if you feel you may be a fit.
We would love to work with you! Please contact us and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible.
